Performance Lab is designed to support application and performance exploration of Chekhov Technique in an intimate group. "Lab" is a research space for you, the actor, supported by the faculty facilitating. Each participant will have time to work on a prepared text or material. Through experimentation with Chekhov's approach you will develop your text with the group. This is a safe space to take Chekhov's technique into your own hands. This November Lab we are delighted to collaborate with Chekhov Training and Performance Ireland and bring you the duo of Lenard Petit and Declan Drohan.
Previous study of the Michael Chekhov Technique is required for eligibility to the Chekhov Lab.
Lenard Petit is one of a handful of teachers trained by the original members of Michael Chekhov’s Theater School. He is a founding member of the Michael Chekhov Association, MICHA, and the Director of the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio since its inception in New York City, 1996-2020 and 2020-present Online. Author of Michael Chekhov Handbook, for the Actor, he has been working in the theater for forty years collaborating with other artists to create original works for stage, film and television.
Declan Drohan is co-director of Chekhov Training and Performance Ireland with Max Hafler. Declan is also a M.A. H.Dip.Ad.Ed, and teaches on the B.A. in Performing Arts and the M.A. in Creative Practice at ATU Sligo. A theatre practitioner for 30 years, his practice encompasses acting, directing, lecturing, and consultancy. He trained at the Gaiety School of Acting, Adult Education Dept NUI Maynooth, and with Michael Chekhov Europe. Declan serves as a director of Glens Centre Manorhamilton, is regular tutor at DLI Summerschool at University of Limerick and is a member of the Association of Drama Adjudicators (ADA.)
